Frisée Endive
Positive effects on eyes bones and teeth. Reduced risk of tumors.
Frisée Endive Description.
The frisée endive (Cichorium endivia crispum) is a leafy vegetable belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is characterized by a large, rounded head composed of upright, bright green leaves, which are highly serrated and firm. The central core, or heart, is whitish-yellow.
Its flavor is particularly appreciated for its savory, slightly bitter notes.
Rich in fiber, with a high water content, vitamins, and minerals, and low in fats, the frisée endive offers numerous health benefits. This vegetable also contains a notable amount of inulin, which helps lower cholesterol and glucose levels in the body.
Frisée endive is produced over a long period: sowing begins in the early spring months and continues until November. The last deliveries, of course, are intended for transplanting in the southernmost areas of Italy.
The seedlings are mainly produced in 170- and 228-cell trays, with the possibility of
using 260/280-cell trays.
The cultivation time is similar to that of radicchio, but since frisée endive does not
risk premature flowering, it is grown for a longer period.
