Medicinal Herbs: From Ancient Folk Tradition to Today
Medicinal plants are distinguished in nature by their particular aromatic or medicinal properties, making them perfect allies for human well-being and beauty. They have always been a beloved ingredient used in a variety of fields.
Vivai Bacchetto produces and sells 22 species of medicinal plants, which can be requested at different times of the year.
A Growing Market
Medicinal herbs are used in phytotherapy, homeopathy, cooking, cosmetics, and herbal medicine.
For millennia, these plants have been used as medical remedies—first dried, crushed, and mixed with common beverages, then taken in the form of syrups and tinctures.
The diet promotes their use as macerates or in infusions. Natural cosmetics prepare perfumes, lotions, and products for personal and home care using essential oils derived from them. In cooking, they are used to flavor dishes and prepare bitters and liqueurs.
The synthesis of their active principles is the foundation of modern phytotherapy and homeopathy. It is highly likely that their use will continue to expand in the future, as scientific research continues to explore the multiple substances contained in medicinal plants and the results of their interactions.

For medicinal plants, it is also possible to choose the organic production method, which excludes the use of synthetic chemicals and preserves the plants’ properties in full respect of nature. This method is particularly suitable for the special needs of this crop.
In 2019, 3,870,000 medicinal plants were produced using the organic method.
