Description of Celery.
Celery (Apium graveolens var. dulce) is a stem vegetable that belongs to the Apiaceae family. The plant produces long, green stalks with a firm and crunchy texture, which culminate in clusters of jagged leaves.
Its strong and savory flavor makes it the ideal ally for adding depth to salads and elaborate recipes. It can be enjoyed both raw and cooked.
Celery is very low in calories and has a high fiber content, which promotes satiety. It provides vitamin B9 and beta-carotene, helps combat water retention, and has depurative and diuretic properties. It stimulates cellular renewal and protects the skin and tissues from oxidative stress.
Celery is an important species for Vivai Bacchetto. Due to high demand from foreign markets (such as the Polish market), there are different cultivation times: transplanting starts in March and finishes around the first week of June.
Northern European markets require plants with significantly different characteristics, particularly in terms of sturdiness. In these cases, the company produces relatively young plants with significant acclimatization, but never below 10°C.
In 90% of cases, Vivai Bacchetto uses pelleted and pre-germinated seeds to produce a young plant capable of rooting quickly and effectively handling transplant stress.
