Pumpkin Description.
The pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family. It has a robust, climbing or sprawling stem, cylindrical or ribbed in shape, with strong tendrils. The large leaves are characterized by a thin fuzz.
In addition to the fruit, which is either elongated or round, the flesh is orange, rich in nutrients and therapeutic properties (it is diuretic, soothing, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and suitable for people with diabetes). The seeds are also appreciated in cooking, being highly protein-rich and beneficial for both male and female urinary systems.
Due to its short cultivation cycle and the seed’s sensitivity to certain fungal and bacterial diseases, special attention is needed when choosing the seed.
The same care is applied during sowing— the large seed is placed in the soil imprint horizontally to avoid abnormal root development — and in selecting the quality and quantity of covering materials.
