Asparagus description.

The asparagus (Asparagus officinalis) is a stem vegetable that belongs to the Liliaceae family.
Starting from the underground rhizome, the plant produces external shoots (turions) intended for consumption, which are white, green, or purple depending on the variety and cultivation method. The thickest asparagus stems are the softest in texture.
Rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, asparagus stimulates kidney activity, is cardiotonic and laxative, regulates blood sugar levels, and is an anti-aging vegetable. Its delicate yet distinctive flavor and characteristic shape make it one of the most popular vegetables in cooking.

The main characteristic of the asparagus plants cultivated by Vivai Bacchetto is the complete absence of light-colored and/or deficient foliage, thanks to careful fertilization techniques, especially concerning the dosages of elements like iron and nitrate nitrogen.

To ensure perfect extraction and prevent root penetration into the styrofoam, the plants are produced in rigid thermoformed containers. A topping is then performed to prevent the third and fourth shoots from becoming too developed and coming into contact with the soil during transplanting.

Our company has been a client of Vivai Bacchetto for many years, and this collaboration has continued over time because the service has always been highly efficient, punctual, and of excellent quality. For us horticulturists and agronomists, who are highly dependent on variables such as climatic conditions and market demands, it is very important to be able to count on a partner who can adequately satisfy even “last minute” needs. Vivai Bacchetto’s professionalism is simply impeccable.
