Description Industrial Tomato
The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum esculentum) is an annual herbaceous fruit-bearing plant that belongs to the Solanaceae family. Its fruits, with their characteristic vivid red color, flavorful taste, and fragrance, are one of the most common ingredients on tables worldwide. Delicious and versatile, it can accompany elaborate
recipes or be enjoyed simply, and it is a source of numerous nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus, vitamin C, vitamin K, and folates, which give it antioxidant, diuretic, and preventive properties.
With an annual production exceeding 200,000,000 plants, industrial tomato is the most numerically significant species within Vivai Bacchetto. It is mainly produced in three formats – 228, 260, and especially 280 holes – with plants ranging from 10 to 15 cm in height (depending on customer requirements). These plants are characterized by a bright green color, open and vigorous foliage, white and well-developed root systems, and perfect extraction. Their health, robustness, and rapid growth after transplant make them highly appreciated on the market. Today, Vivai Bacchetto is considered one of the main players in the supply chain.
Given the increase in demand for organic agriculture, part of the company and the production team has specialized in this type of production.
